What can your baby do this month?

By this moth your baby’s weight will be doubled of that of he or she was at birth. This is a strong indication of your baby’s growth development.

In addition to that your baby’s motor skills will also develop along with his or her growth. Your baby will start involving her hands more in his or her daily activities. He or she will use hands to pull and grab objects such as toys and even your hair. Now this will not end in there, your baby will most definitely put those that are in his or her hand into the mouth. Your baby will be able to play rattle.

Also the wobbliness of the head will be completely gone by now as your baby will have a strong neck and better balance. There will not be any head droop when in sitting position. Your baby will, sometimes, roll over on the tummy during this month but not all babies’ reach this milestone during the month.

Sleep is also important to your baby during this age and he or she will even sleep seven to eight hours per nap. This means that your baby will sleep 14-16 hours per day.

Your baby will develop the sense of vision during this month. He or she will be able to distinguish between shades of colours and will still show attraction to bright colours. The baby will hold strong eye contact with you and your spouse. He or she will also recognize you by touch.

More cooing, vowel sounds and gurgles, laughter and squeals will enter the baby’s communication process. This means that your baby is developing an effective communication. In addition to that your baby will also express emotions through facial expressions. At the same time your baby will be able to understand your emotions as well.

Tips for parents this month

Use more games when interacting with your baby. This will help for the development of your baby in certain aspects such as memory, communication and motor skills.

Help the baby roll over when he or she is trying to till the skill is mastered. Make sure that you don’t push your baby to do anything that he or she is not ready to do yet. To help your baby to understand the use of words stay in front and of the baby and make sounds with clear mouth movements so that your baby could easily get the hang of it.

If you baby’s eyes doesn’t follow the same direction when tracking something consult your doctor as this may mean that your baby is developing cross eye.

Also it is very important that you do not leave any sharp objects lying around as your baby will not just touch them but also put them into the mouth. Make sure that you do not wear earrings and necklaces when with baby’s of this age.
