What can your baby do this month?
Now your baby’s sole purpose would be cruising around the room. The baby will be able to propel, crawl and creep around whiling picking and touching anything that would interest him or her.
The cognitive thinking of your baby will develop during this age. Your baby will understand that even if he or she can’t see a certain object this doesn’t mean that the object is completely gone.
Your baby will also show interest in feeding himself. He or she will grab food with the thumb and index finger. This could be very exciting to the baby. Your baby will even drink off a sippy cup. This could be very exhausting at times as most cups that end up in your baby’s hand at the beginning will end up broken. Don’t let that discourage your baby. Give the baby a plastic cup drink.
The little one will also learn to wave bye-bye during this month. When the father is off to work or when the grandma is leaving your baby will know to wave. He or she will also understand the term ‘no’. The baby will know that when you say ‘no’ to something that better not be done.
Tips for parents this month
It is very important that you keep a close eye on the baby now as he or she has started to move around the room and the house. To increase the growth of the baby keeps giving nutritious food to him. Try introducing new food to your baby. Make sure that you first tested is the baby is allergic to the food given.
Try giving your baby finger food. These could be cut up pieces of banana or plum or even boiled potato cubes. Even though letting your baby feed him or herself could be messy it will help you baby to master the big task.
Try to introduce certain activities that will develop your baby’s cognitive thinking. Read the baby a book with big and colourful objects in it. Point at each object while it is being explained and named to the baby; also introduce games that will develop the eye hand coordination.
Use the bath time as a classroom and while washing the baby name the parts of his or her body such as ‘these are baby’s ears’ or ‘this is baby’s nose’.
Don’t leave your baby alone when he or she is awake. Anything could happen anytime so make sure that your baby is in a safe environment when leaving the baby alone even for a brief moment.
Keep your spouse involved in milestone that your baby reach as this will develop the family bondage and also help the baby’s psychology and sense of appreciation.
