Baby’s Developments
The eyes, nose and ears of the foetus are recognisable. The bones and muscles also can be seen since the skin is still so thin that it is almost transparent. The foetus is now moving about, but it is too small for you to feel the movements. Ankles and elbows have formed and the baby can move its feet and bend its arms. Ovaries if it’s a girl, and testes if it’s a boy, are well developed at this stage, but the sex cannot be externally determined. Thus it is too early to say if it’s a boy or a girl. The foetus is now approximately 2.5 cm long and weighs about 2 g.
Changes in the Mother
Glands and ducts form in your breasts in preparation of breast feeding. The blood supply to your breasts will also increase. This will increase the size of your breasts and may also cause the appearance of small blue veins on your breasts. Don’t worry about it; it is an entirely normal thing to happen. Your breasts may also start to feel sore and tender.
Tips for This Week
Starting to wear maternity bras may help at this stage.
