Baby’s Developments
The legs of the foetus are starting to grow longer than the arms now and all the joints and limbs can be moved. Although the eyes are still fused shut, the foetus can sense light. You would not see this, but if you shine a flashlight at your tummy, the foetus would move away from the source of light. The taste buds are also developing at this stage. It may finally be possible to detect the baby’s sex, but don’t count on it since this depends on the position that the baby is in.
Changes in the Mother
Even if you didn’t gain much weight before, at this stage you will rapidly start to do so. But make sure that this weight gain is healthy and not due to you eating unhealthy fatty foods or sweets. The following uneasy signs may also appear:
- Gas: Since you are eating more, you may also develop more gas. Avoiding gas inducing foods such as broccoli, cabbage and fizzy drinks may reduce the condition. Also eat and drink slowly without gulping. This reduces the possibility of air intake.
- Indigestion: Again due to higher intake of food. Try eating several small meals throughout the day instead of 3 large ones.
- Headaches: these can be caused by hormones, stress or fatigue. Try to relax and get proper rest.
