Baby’s Development
The major organs of the foetus are now fully formed and functioning and passing urine from the kidneys starts. The foetus can also suck and swallow at this stage. The fingers and toes have fully separated and movements such as swimming and kicking are done. The foetus measures approximately 4 cm and weighs about 7 g. The head is about half the size of the whole body now. The foetus begins to swallow the amniotic fluid. The foetus is developing in a water bag called the amniotic sac. The liquid inside this sac is known as the amniotic fluid.
Changes in the Mother
You will have a slightly raised temperature which will cause you to feel sweaty and flustered. The mood swings would calm down somewhat. Some women may get what is called a ‘linea nigra’ due to the hormones. This is a dark brownish line down the middle of your abdomen down to your pubic area. It’s about 1 cm in width. You may also notice that you are more sensitive to smells than you were.
